How does the chiller descale the water-cooled condenser?
Many refrigeration units adpot water-cooled cooling system. The inner wall of the water-cooled condenser is easy to scale. These scales will affect the heat exchange effect, resulting in an increase the condensing temperature, which will badly lower cooling capacity and increased unit power consumption. Water-cooled condensers should be regularly descaled, at least once every six months (depending on local water quality and scaling). There are many ways to descale. We will introduce two methods according to the condenser of the water-cooled compression condensing unit: chemical cleaning and physical cleaning
Water-cooled condenser descaling method / steps
First, check the scaling
Condenser scaling usually has the following performances:
1. The cleaning liquid can be added to the cooling water system in a certain proportion, and the cooling pump is turned on for 12 to 24 hours. The cleaning liquid is continuously circulated, and the sediment layer is continuously dissolved and detached by the chemical effect and the scouring effect of the cleaning liquid. However, this method requires a large amount of cleaning solution and is costly.
2. Cleaning a single condenser, a circulation pump and a pipe can be connected between the cleaning liquid storage tank and the condenser to form a closed circuit, so that the cleaning liquid is continuously circulated for 12 to 24 hours to dissolve and fall off the sediment.
Use immersion. The cleaning solution is exchanged according to a certain ratio, and is placed in a condenser for standing for 5 to 10 hours to soften and dissolve the scale, drain the cleaning liquid, and wash with water.
When you can't see the original color of the copper tube, and the scaling is already very serious. It needs to be cleaned in time.
The main reason for the scaling is that calcium and magnesium ions in the cooling water crystallize out as salt in the form of salt and condense on the inner wall of the copper tube ; the metal oxidation product of the system pipeline; the slime produced by the bacteria algae, and so on.
Secondly, chemical cleaning method
Wash with a cleaning solution, first wash with an acid solution, then neutralize with an alkali solution, and finally rinse with water to clean the acid and alkali solution.
1. The cleaning liquid can be added to the cooling water system in a certain proportion, and turned on the cooling pump circulation for 12 to 24 hours. The cleaning liquid is continuously circulated, and the sediment layer is dissolved and detached by the chemical effect and the scouring effect of the cleaning liquid continuously.
3. Use immersion. The cleaning solution is exchanged according to a certain ratio, and is placed in a condenser for standing for 5 to 10 hours to soften and dissolve the deposit, drain the cleaning liquid, and wash with water.
How to remove the scale of the water-cooled condenser
Advantages of chemical cleaning: thorough descaling; labor saving.
Disadvantages of chemical cleaning: Corrosion may occur on the copper tube of the condenser; waste liquid discharge after cleaning; the cost of the medicine is high.
When cleaning chemically, be sure to pay attention to the proportion of the solution as well as the circulation and soaking time to prevent the condenser from being corroded.

Thirdly, the physical cleaning method
The physical cleaning method is to use a soft shaft brush to clean. The soft shaft is driven by the motor of the cleaning machine. There is a nylon brush at the forefront of the flexible shaft. When using, the soft shaft and the brush are inserted into the copper tube of the condenser, and the scale in the copper tube is removed by high-speed rotation brush. The dirt is finally rinsed with water.
The advantages of physical cleaning: the cost of chemicals required for chemical cleaning is eliminated; the discharge or disposal of waste liquid after chemical cleaning is avoided; corrosion of the condenser copper tube is not easily caused.
Disadvantages of physical cleaning: For hard dirt and corrosion products with strong adhesion, physical cleaning is not effective; cleaning operation is relatively labor-intensive.
